Entry to the Code Ferret app is via the Salt dashboard, which can be accessed via the SAPGUI or via a browser.

On the Salt dashboard, you will also find a collection of other apps your project team can use to immediately improve SAP system health and integrity.

Ever needed to find previously developed code but couldn't remember where to look? Simply select which SAP system to search and enter a simple or complicated search string to suit your requirements and then click on “Search”.

You won't have to wait long for the answer because Code Ferret is super fast. By the way, the selection criteria field supports the boolean operators AND, “+”, OR, NOT and “-”, as well as advanced search filtering tags to limit results based on object type, name, development class/package, transport number, author, or even Rev-Trac request number.

Finding Problem Code Fast

A break point would not be welcomed in a PRD system and so in the example, Code Ferret has been asked to find any occurrence of the word “break-point”. Luckily in this system the only occurrences are relatively harmless.

You have the option to examine any individual result in Version Vault by clicking on the object name.
