Salt System Requirements
Salt architecture:
- The Salt server is a virtual appliance that runs on a VMware virtual platform. For a more information on the virtual appliance concept, click here
- Salt is a client/server application
- When installing Salt, users import a small ABAP component into their SAP systems. This allows the Salt server to communicate with these systems
- Users access Salt apps through a web browser or through the SAP GUI
Server
Salt requires any VMware virtual platform that can play a .vmx or .ovf file. The Salt Installation Guide explains how to install and use the free VMware Player.
Your VMware host should have a CPU speed of at least 1 GHz, with 2 GHz or faster recommended. It should satisfy the following memory and disk space requirements.
Please note: One or more virtual machines may be required in order to run larger Enterprise instances and data volumes.

Client:
- Salt can be used inside any of the following web browsers:
- Internet Explorer 7 or later;
- Firefox 3.6 or later;
- Chrome; or
- Safari.
- Salt can also be used inside SAP GUI for Windows (Internet Explorer 7 or later required)
- Salt also requires that Javascript and cookies are enabled in your web browser
Network
Your network should support a speed of at least 10 Mbps between the Salt server and your SAP systems.
